Introduction Fast Cars from the Future The future is good. Things are bright. The biggest sport is death racing. The elite follow the racing season across the world and beyond. Races are held on purpose-built tracks at the Grand Keys, the beach playground of the ultra rich; at Metro City, the largest city in human history; at the Pole, the last wilderness on earth; and on the alien Red Planet. Races are broadcast globally. Racers are media heroes. Their faces are everywhere, on holo vids, advertisements, even surgically replicated on the features of their most ardent fans. Everyone loves them, except for the other racers... 2. System Requirements IMPORTANT: To play this demo you will need DirextX 6.0 and Glide 2.43. In this demo version you will have one track and one car available to you. Future demos will give you more of a taste of the fabulous world of Dethkarz. 5. Game Select This screen is the main menu. From here, you can select race mode or set your preferred options. (Please note: As this is only the demo, many of the final game’s options won’t be available to you. Below is a description of the options that you can use.) Arcade: Arcade Mode offers you a quick race. It is an ideal way to practice against a full race field. You must keep up the pace and complete each lap before the timer runs out. Time Trial: You have the road to yourself in this mode - no combat, no powerups, no damage. It offers you a chance to learn the tracks while logging your fastest times. You can compete against a ghost car representing your personal lap record. Options: Set up the game as you like it. Options include Game, Sound, Control and Graphics. Quit: Exits the game. 6. Racing Tips The key to good racing is to understand how acceleration and braking transfers weight across the car. Although Dethkarz is a futuristic racing game, the cars have real physics. * When the car is coasting, the weight is split between front and rear, giving the car an even grip. * Braking increases the grip on the front, and decreases the grip on the rear. Use the brakes to achieve sharp tail slides. Tapping the brake can be enough to swing the back end out. * Accelerating increases the grip on the rear, causing the front to go lighter. Too much power can cause a spinout. * When driving manual, gearing down causes the engine to over-rev. The effect is similar to hard braking. * How you come out of a corner is more important than how you go into it. To achieve top lap records, you need as much velocity out of a corner as possible. Nitro can tip the odds here.Putting it all together, to take a sharp corner in one of the faster cars, brake before the corner, slide into it and then power out. 7. And Finally... For that extra challenge you can upload your efforts on to our website and download challenges from other racers worldwide.
